Located in San Francisco’s Sunset District, ACI provided general contracting services for the full renovation of a 1,400-square-foot home originally built in 1906. From the outset, the project required a complete interior overhaul to modernize the structure, improve functionality, and enhance long-term performance.
The team took the home down to the studs, allowing for the installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout. At the same time, structural improvements were made to support the updated layout and meet current building standards. This approach laid a clean foundation for rebuilding the home, improving efficiency and durability.
On the main level, the layout includes two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, and a combined kitchen and dining area. The team reconfigured these spaces to improve flow, maximize natural light, and create a more cohesive connection between rooms. As a result, the interior feels more open and functional while maintaining the original structure’s scale.
Below, at street level, the project includes a separate in-law unit with its own entry. This required careful planning to ensure proper system separation, code compliance, and efficient use of space. In addition, the team coordinated access, circulation, and utility connections between both levels.
Throughout the home, ACI integrated state-of-the-art technology systems, including updated electrical infrastructure to support modern lighting, controls, and connectivity. Meanwhile, new finishes, fixtures, and materials were installed to provide consistency, durability, and long-term performance.
Overall, the project represents a complete rebuild within the existing footprint, combining modern construction practices with a thoughtful approach to layout and systems integration.
