CRYSTAL DRIVE HOME RENOVATION

Crystal Drive started as a good house in a great location — and became something much more. This whole-home renovation took an existing Santa Rosa residence and reimagined it from the studs out, trading a dated layout for one that finally matches its setting: relaxed, refined, and unmistakably wine country.

We leaned into that setting at every turn. New arched openings soften the flow between rooms, cedar ceilings bring warmth overhead, and custom millwork adds the kind of detail you notice even when you can’t quite say why. Layer in updated lighting and a restrained, sophisticated palette, and the home reads with a soft Parisian influence — elegant without ever tipping into formal.

The kitchen, great room, dining areas, and loggia carried the heart of the scope, and it shows. These are the rooms where the family actually lives, so we treated them that way: more cohesive, more inviting, and more connected to the hills and light right outside every window. The loggia in particular does exactly what a great outdoor room should — it makes you want to stay out there a little longer.

Here’s the thing about a project like this: the finishes get all the credit, but the sequencing, the coordination, and a hundred small decisions along the way are what make a house feel this pulled-together. That’s the design-build difference, and it’s on full display here.

The result balances the polish of a tailored European interior with the ease of its Sonoma County setting — elevated, yes, but completely livable. Exactly the home you’d hope for at the end of a renovation like this.
